As we all know that in our whole body, blood circulates for
many purposes. And we all know who pumps this blood into our body! That is
“Heart”. Heart pumps blood to whole body and this pump exerts pressure on the
wall of the vessels by which blood travel in body, as like the water rushes
from the whose exerts pressure on the whose pipe. If we let that pipe free it
will move randomly by the pressure exerted from water. Now let’s move: Doctors
needs blood pressure to check the condition of our pumping heart and arteries
their strength and some other important factors regarding our health. When the left ventricle of the heart pumps the blood into the main “Aorta” (large artery) it expands and receive blood from pump action of heart. Muscular living of this aorta resist the blood here and squeeze it into the small vessels called “Arteries”. This resultant amount of all pressure is called Blood Pressure.
Method to Measure B.P:
For this purpose an instrument is used called B.P apparatus.
Whenever Doctor has to find the blood pressure he use this on victim. It is
consist of an air fillable rubber cuff which is attached to the elbow of the
victim and then fill it with air up to 200 pressure (more air filled can burst
your arteries due to pressure of blood) which blocks the blood flowing through
the arteries. And then, decrease it slowly by releasing pressure of air in
reaction blood rushes through artery and doctor measures it on a mercury tube.
There is always two readings we note, the first one is
maximum value (systolic pressure) tells the doctor blood pressure while heart
is pumping which is 120 normally and 2nd one is minimum value (or
Diastolic pressure) is taken to show blood pressure when the heart is resting
which is normally 80.
